Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.98%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which rose 1.48% or 1.54 points to trade at 105.56 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 1.22% or 0.62 points to end at 51.42 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 1.07% or 0.68 points to 64.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which lost 4.22% or 28.30 points to trade at 642.60 in late trade. Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) declined 3.84% or 83.00 points to end at 2,081.00 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) shed 2.22% or 5.65 points to 248.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which rose 2.99% to 1.79, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was up 2.54% to settle at 4.12 and Television Francaise 1 SA (EPA:TFFP) which gained 1.71% to close at 8.02.
The worst performers were Mersen (EPA:CBLP) which was down 6.12% to 28.40 in late trade, Alten SA (EPA:LTEN) which lost 6.01% to settle at 91.55 and Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 4.62% to 0.69 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 294 to 186 and 93 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.95 to $2,524.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.92% or 0.65 to hit $69.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.59 to trade at $73.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 101.33.
