Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM), which rose 2.93% or 0.35 points to trade at 12.38 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) added 1.84% or 0.47 points to end at 26.03 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) was up 1.33% or 0.45 points to 34.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP), which lost 2.49% or 9.15 points to trade at 358.10 in late trade. Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) declined 1.82% or 0.19 points to end at 10.24 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) shed 1.50% or 1.90 points to 125.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Verallia (EPA:VRLA) which rose 11.42% to 28.48, ID Logistics SAS (EPA:IDLA) which was up 6.04% to settle at 404.00 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) which gained 2.93% to close at 12.38.
The worst performers were Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was down 4.75% to 50.15 in late trade, Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which lost 3.44% to settle at 137.50 and Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which was down 3.12% to 8.56 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 297 to 191 and 103 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.95% or 26.20 to $2,733.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.46% or 1.05 to hit $70.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 1.08 to trade at $74.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 104.29.
