Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.43% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN), which rose 1.99% or 0.57 points to trade at 29.19 at the close. Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 1.45% or 0.38 points to end at 26.54 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was up 0.79% or 0.36 points to 45.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which lost 2.24% or 0.93 points to trade at 40.63 in late trade. Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) declined 1.66% or 2.60 points to end at 154.10 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) shed 1.48% or 0.18 points to 12.21.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which rose 2.30% to 137.80, Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which was up 1.99% to settle at 29.19 and Spie SA (EPA:SPIE) which gained 1.60% to close at 30.46.
The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 24.30% to 3.12 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which lost 9.54% to settle at 0.19 and Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which was down 5.82% to 5.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 306 to 170 and 103 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.95% or 25.05 to $2,656.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $69.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $73.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 106.79.
