Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.03%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which rose 0.90% or 0.110 points to trade at 12.335 at the close. Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 1.04% or 1.10 points to end at 106.60 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.06% or 0.43 points to 40.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 1.84% or 0.510 points to trade at 27.230 in late trade. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) declined 1.16% or 0.50 points to end at 42.65 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) shed 0.72% or 0.39 points to 54.03.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technicolor (PA:TCH) which rose 3.66% to 1.247, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 2.41% to settle at 8.590 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which gained 2.07% to close at 2.470.
The worst performers were Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 2.31% to 13.94 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which lost 1.84% to settle at 27.230 and Nexity (PA:NEXI) which was down 1.63% to 51.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 308 to 258 and 104 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.95% to 13.03.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.43% or 5.20 to $1218.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.68% or 1.15 to hit $69.64 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.19% or 0.87 to trade at $74.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1563, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 95.14.
