Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Beverages, Gas Water and Leisure Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.21%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which rose 3.11% or 2.19 points to trade at 72.81 at the close. Accor (PARIS:ACCP) added 1.53% or 0.76 points to end at 50.45 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was up 1.27% or 0.29 points to 23.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY), which lost 2.43% or 0.91 points to trade at 36.47 in late trade. GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) declined 1.67% or 0.31 points to end at 18.23 and Safran (PARIS:SAF) shed 1.40% or 0.95 points to 66.80.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which rose 7.18% to 38.59, Gemalto (AMS:GTO) which was up 3.11% to settle at 72.81 and BIC (PARIS:BICP) which gained 2.72% to close at 134.15.
The worst performers were Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) which was down 3.67% to 8.381 in late trade, STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which lost 3.34% to settle at 8.625 and Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which was down 3.31% to 10.530 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 481 to 438 and 55 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.64% to 18.14.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.16% or 1.80 to $1152.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 0.98% or 0.47 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.34 to trade at $57.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.0603, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.7134.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 99.39.
