Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Banking and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.57%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO), which rose 7.20% or 1.86 points to trade at 27.76 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PARIS:CAGR) added 2.10% or 0.265 points to end at 12.880 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PARIS:LHN) was up 1.71% or 1.03 points to 61.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PARIS:TECF), which lost 1.47% or 0.72 points to trade at 48.45 in late trade. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) declined 1.32% or 1.10 points to end at 82.15 and Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) shed 0.88% or 0.49 points to 55.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) which rose 7.20% to 27.76, Credit Agricole SA (PARIS:CAGR) which was up 2.10% to settle at 12.880 and Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) which gained 2.04% to close at 17.240.
The worst performers were Ingenico Group (PARIS:INGC) which was down 2.43% to 124.50 in late trade, Casino Guichard (PARIS:CASP) which lost 1.51% to settle at 63.90 and Technip (PARIS:TECF) which was down 1.47% to 48.45 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 420 to 379 and 59 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.41% to 21.34.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.49% or 5.50 to $1118.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.58% or 0.25 to hit $42.86 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.17 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1081, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7105.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.79.
