Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.28%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.76% or 1.02 points to trade at 22.46 at the close. L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) added 4.21% or 15.50 points to end at 383.30 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was up 3.85% or 74.50 points to 2,009.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which lost 1.88% or 1.89 points to trade at 98.56 in late trade. Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) declined 1.83% or 0.66 points to end at 35.43 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) shed 0.69% or 0.08 points to 10.79.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which rose 5.66% to 6.23, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 4.76% to settle at 22.46 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 4.67% to close at 26.00.
The worst performers were Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which was down 5.31% to 35.78 in late trade, Fnac Darty SA (EPA:FNAC) which lost 4.97% to settle at 27.70 and Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which was down 2.15% to 127.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 242 to 224 and 110 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 20.80 to $2,673.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.65% or 1.16 to hit $71.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.68% or 1.23 to trade at $74.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 100.28.
