Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.20%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which rose 3.48% or 3.00 points to trade at 89.10 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) added 3.34% or 8.05 points to end at 248.80 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was up 2.59% or 5.70 points to 225.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which lost 0.92% or 19.00 points to trade at 2,049.00 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 0.63% or 0.15 points to end at 23.76 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) shed 0.62% or 0.06 points to 9.25.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which rose 5.00% to 9.20, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) which was up 3.48% to settle at 89.10 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) which gained 3.34% to close at 248.80.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 3.71% to 0.65 in late trade, Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which lost 3.62% to settle at 39.81 and Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which was down 2.59% to 13.53 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 269 to 222 and 101 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.71% or 73.05 to $2,621.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.96% or 2.08 to hit $68.30 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.64% or 1.95 to trade at $71.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 105.43.
