Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which rose 3.86% or 0.545 points to trade at 14.670 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 3.01% or 1.90 points to end at 65.04 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) was up 2.25% or 0.96 points to 43.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which lost 1.31% or 0.23 points to trade at 16.91 in late trade. Total SA (PA:TOTF) declined 0.92% or 0.43 points to end at 47.03 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.67% or 0.10 points to 14.81.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which rose 4.35% to 34.28, Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) which was up 3.86% to settle at 14.670 and Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which gained 3.05% to close at 33.965.
The worst performers were Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was down 5.36% to 4.410 in late trade, BIC (PA:BICP) which lost 2.82% to settle at 93.00 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was down 1.48% to 13.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 330 to 264 and 97 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 18.94% to 9.35 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.31% or 3.90 to $1249.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.29% or 0.73 to hit $57.42 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 1.14 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1762, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8778.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.91.
