Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 1.38% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SZSE Component index fell 1.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Nanjing Inform Storage Equipment Group Co Ltd (SS:603066), which rose 10.02% or 0.90 points to trade at 9.88 at the close. Xining Special Steel Co Ltd (SS:600117) added 9.98% or 0.500 points to end at 5.510 and Wintime Energy Co Ltd (SS:600157) was up 9.94% or 0.160 points to 1.770 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ningbo Bird Co Ltd (SS:600130), which lost 10.11% or 0.360 points to trade at 3.200 in late trade. Shandong Huapeng Glass Co Ltd (SS:603021) declined 10.05% or 0.780 points to end at 6.980 and Guangzhou Yuetai Group Co Ltd (SS:600393) shed 10.04% or 0.480 points to 4.300.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Cangzhou Mingzhu Plastic Co Ltd (SZ:002108) which rose 10.07% to 4.81, Shenzhen Minkave Technology Co Ltd (SZ:300506) which was up 9.96% to settle at 23.30 and Zhejiang Nhu Co Ltd (SZ:002001) which gained 8.48% to close at 17.79.
The worst performers were ZTE Corp (SZ:000063) which was down 10.01% to 16.64 in late trade, Zhuhai Orbita Control Eng (SZ:300053) which lost 10.00% to settle at 10.98 and Tonghua Golden-Horse Pharmaceutical Industry Co Ltd (SZ:000766) which was down 10.00% to 12.24 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1142 to 215 and 35 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.95.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.65% or 8.30 to $1266.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.56% or 0.37 to hit $65.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.68 to trade at $74.06 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.41% to 6.5001, while EUR/CNY rose 0.23% to 7.5111.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 94.94.
