Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, REITs and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 1.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were SSR Mining Inc (TSX:SSRM), which rose 5.99% or 1.44 points to trade at 25.49 at the close. Alacer Gold Corp (TSX:ASR) added 5.46% or 0.43 points to end at 8.30 and Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:SEA) was up 5.16% or 1.00 points to 20.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX:ACB), which lost 13.35% or 1.390 points to trade at 9.020 in late trade. Lightspeed POS Inc (TSX:LSPD) declined 8.35% or 2.36 points to end at 25.92 and Element Fleet Management Corp (TSX:EFN) shed 7.37% or 0.72 points to 9.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 674 to 350 and 120 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 7.15 to $1705.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 6.17% or 1.49 to hit $25.63 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.21 to trade at $29.84 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.43% to 0.7110, while CAD/EUR fell 0.70% to 0.6555.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 100.025.
