Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, IT and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc . (TSX:RBA), which rose 14.65% or 9.54 points to trade at 74.64 at the close. CCL Industries Inc (TSX:CCLb) added 7.97% or 3.61 points to end at 48.88 and Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:BBU_u) was up 5.28% or 1.96 points to 39.07 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cominar Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:CUF_u), which lost 12.72% or 1.02 points to trade at 7.00 in late trade. Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC) declined 10.14% or 2.72 points to end at 24.11 and Cascades Inc . (TSX:CAS) shed 8.16% or 1.30 points to 14.64.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 574 to 487 and 117 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for October delivery was down 1.30% or 26.80 to $2031.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.05% or 0.44 to hit $41.51 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.47 to trade at $44.62 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.56% to 0.7472, while CAD/EUR rose 0.23% to 0.6341.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.68% at 93.395.
