Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the IT, Real Estate and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Mullen Group Ltd . (TSX:MTL), which rose 7.95% or 0.98 points to trade at 13.30 at the close. Sandstorm Gold Ltd . (TSX:SSL) added 7.71% or 0.70 points to end at 9.78 and Cogeco Communications Inc (TSX:CCA) was up 4.81% or 5.54 points to 120.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altus Group Limited (TSX:AIF), which lost 4.41% or 2.64 points to trade at 57.27 in late trade. Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS) declined 2.11% or 0.21 points to end at 9.72 and Parex Resources Inc (TSX:PXT) shed 2.11% or 0.45 points to 20.83.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 512 to 504 and 97 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.37% or 6.55 to $1770.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.79% or 0.58 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.38 to trade at $74.66 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.07% to 0.8057, while CAD/EUR rose 0.36% to 0.6801.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 92.418.
