Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, REITs and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Tahoe Resources Inc (TO:THO), which rose 20.83% or 1.05 points to trade at 6.09 at the close. Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) added 16.90% or 0.360 points to end at 2.490 and Boardwalk REIT (TO:BEI_u) was up 9.14% or 3.83 points to 45.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd (TO:MAXR), which lost 7.68% or 4.97 points to trade at 59.74 in late trade. Aphria Inc (TO:APH) declined 6.91% or 0.960 points to end at 12.930 and Klondex Mines Ltd (TO:KDX) shed 6.70% or 0.130 points to 1.810.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 652 to 474 and 133 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 4.58% to 14.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.35% or 4.60 to $1334.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.76% or 0.48 to hit $64.03 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.35 to trade at $67.39 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.33% to 0.7890, while CAD/EUR fell 0.50% to 0.6406.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 89.76.
