Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Materials and REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were AcuityAds Holdings Inc (TSX:AT), which rose 10.47% or 1.450 points to trade at 15.300 at the close. goeasy Ltd (TSX:GSY) added 9.35% or 11.97 points to end at 139.97 and Aphria Inc (TSX:APHA) was up 6.87% or 1.200 points to 18.670 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gfl Environmental Inc (TSX:GFL), which lost 4.24% or 1.87 points to trade at 42.24 in late trade. Linamar Corporation (TSX:LNR) declined 3.69% or 2.76 points to end at 72.02 and Methanex Corporation (TSX:MX) shed 3.15% or 1.58 points to 48.56.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 542 to 524 and 112 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.69% or 11.95 to $1744.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.19% or 0.71 to hit $60.41 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.62 to trade at $63.90 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.23% to 0.7977, while CAD/EUR fell 0.01% to 0.6680.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 91.858.
