Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3), which rose 0.81% or 0.11 points to trade at 13.66 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 0.50% or 0.14 points to end at 28.23 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) was up 0.08% or 0.02 points to 26.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which lost 5.00% or 0.79 points to trade at 15.00 in late trade. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 4.97% or 3.53 points to end at 67.46 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) shed 4.04% or 0.29 points to 6.88.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 246 to 127 and 33 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 12.97% to 36.41.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.92% or 23.74 to $1260.14 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.72% or 0.35 to hit $49.01 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.28% or 3.00 to trade at $134.57 .
USD/BRL was up 1.25% to 3.1346, while EUR/BRL rose 1.95% to 3.4982.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.76% at 97.35.
