Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumption, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3), which rose 1.41% or 0.57 points to trade at 41.02 at the close. WEG SA (BVMF:WEGE3) added 0.38% or 0.18 points to end at 47.23 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3) was up 0.17% or 0.07 points to 41.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3), which lost 9.32% or 1.15 points to trade at 11.19 in late trade. Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) declined 8.66% or 0.77 points to end at 8.12 and BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3) shed 7.88% or 1.78 points to 20.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 570 to 388 and 49 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.52% to 24.68.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.53% or 13.10 to $2,446.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.69% or 0.56 to hit $80.88 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.06% or 2.57 to trade at $240.58 .
USD/BRL was up 1.68% to 5.57, while EUR/BRL rose 1.53% to 6.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 103.90.
