Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 1.72% or 0.22 points to trade at 13.02 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 1.41% or 0.11 points to end at 7.91 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 0.64% or 0.10 points to 15.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which lost 24.05% or 6.08 points to trade at 19.20 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 6.30% or 1.26 points to end at 18.73 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) shed 5.98% or 0.42 points to 6.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 268 to 124 and 25 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.74% to 33.87.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.66% or 8.43 to $1273.67 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $57.27 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.83% or 3.75 to trade at $128.57 .
USD/BRL was up 0.78% to 3.2717, while EUR/BRL rose 1.22% to 3.8927.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 93.00.
