Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.33% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Eneva SA (BVMF:ENEV3), which rose 5.45% or 0.52 points to trade at 10.07 at the close. Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) added 5.17% or 1.19 points to end at 24.20 and Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) was up 3.02% or 0.11 points to 3.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF:USIM5), which lost 6.01% or 0.31 points to trade at 4.85 in late trade. IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) declined 5.55% or 2.47 points to end at 42.05 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF:YDUQ3) shed 5.08% or 0.43 points to 8.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 480 to 444 and 55 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.75% to 32.08.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.69% or 18.44 to $2,650.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.23% or 0.90 to hit $74.03 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.13% or 6.95 to trade at $319.90 .
USD/BRL was up 0.45% to 6.18, while EUR/BRL rose 0.85% to 6.37.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 108.78.
