Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11), which rose 3.07% or 0.82 points to trade at 27.55 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) added 2.50% or 0.20 points to end at 8.20 and Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3) was up 1.45% or 1.30 points to 91.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which lost 5.99% or 0.36 points to trade at 5.65 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) declined 4.78% or 1.07 points to end at 21.31 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) shed 4.49% or 1.03 points to 21.92.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 207 to 182 and 22 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.35% to 28.68.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.72% or 9.50 to $1316.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.38% or 0.23 to hit $61.19 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.82% or 2.20 to trade at $118.92 .
USD/BRL was up 0.67% to 3.2826, while EUR/BRL rose 0.16% to 4.0396.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 90.15.
