Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumption, Public Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.22% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 21.40% or 8.80 points to trade at 49.92 at the close. WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) added 3.48% or 0.53 points to end at 15.78 and Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) was up 1.97% or 0.66 points to 34.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which lost 8.39% or 1.19 points to trade at 13.00 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 8.20% or 1.34 points to end at 15.01 and Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) shed 6.51% or 1.39 points to 19.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 296 to 120 and 38 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.65% to 33.90.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.95% or 25.50 to $1282.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.53% or 2.36 to hit $64.53 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.28% or 0.32 to trade at $115.35 .
USD/BRL was down 2.06% to 3.7282, while EUR/BRL fell 1.67% to 4.3290.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.78.
