Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3), which rose 8.52% or 3.29 points to trade at 41.89 at the close. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3) added 3.20% or 0.09 points to end at 2.90 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (BVMF:RENT3) was up 0.93% or 0.40 points to 43.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (BVMF:GOAU4), which lost 4.67% or 0.52 points to trade at 10.61 in late trade. Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) declined 4.50% or 0.57 points to end at 12.11 and Gerdau SA Pref (BVMF:GGBR4) shed 4.29% or 0.81 points to 18.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 569 to 390 and 51 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.34% to 25.67.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.54% or 13.00 to $2,407.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.22% or 0.96 to hit $77.44 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.67% or 4.05 to trade at $239.00 .
USD/BRL was up 0.17% to 5.59, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.01% to 6.06.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 104.18.
