Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 3.05% or 1.43 points to trade at 48.35 at the close. Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3) added 2.71% or 0.13 points to end at 4.93 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 1.74% or 0.50 points to 29.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which lost 5.47% or 0.33 points to trade at 5.70 in late trade. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 5.02% or 1.23 points to end at 23.26 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) shed 3.43% or 0.81 points to 22.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 263 to 199 and 36 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 10.28% to 33.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.11% or 1.35 to $1283.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.18% or 1.18 to hit $52.86 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.86% or 1.95 to trade at $103.00 .
USD/BRL was up 1.63% to 3.8148, while EUR/BRL rose 1.61% to 4.3341.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 95.968.
