Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.90% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5), which rose 4.76% or 0.90 points to trade at 19.79 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF:USIM5) added 2.79% or 0.17 points to end at 6.26 and Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) was up 2.57% or 0.67 points to 26.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which lost 10.08% or 0.63 points to trade at 5.62 in late trade. CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF:CMIN3) declined 8.26% or 0.57 points to end at 6.33 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) shed 5.44% or 0.80 points to 13.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 579 to 378 and 50 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.53% to 26.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 8.75 to $2,583.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.16% or 0.81 to hit $69.15 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.27% or 3.37 to trade at $261.13 .
USD/BRL was down 0.66% to 5.45, while EUR/BRL fell 1.06% to 6.06.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 100.64.
