Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 4.40% or 1.96 points to trade at 46.53 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 4.35% or 0.39 points to end at 9.35 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.11% or 1.38 points to 45.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which lost 3.71% or 0.93 points to trade at 24.15 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 3.07% or 0.66 points to end at 20.81 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) shed 2.89% or 0.32 points to 10.76.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 219 to 160 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.37% to 30.34.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.36% or 4.62 to $1277.82 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.93% or 1.49 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.88% or 2.39 to trade at $129.77 .
USD/BRL was up 0.19% to 3.1599, while EUR/BRL rose 0.38% to 3.7093.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.63.
