Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3), which rose 5.58% or 1.47 points to trade at 27.80 at the close. Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) added 4.58% or 0.16 points to end at 3.65 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (BVMF:RAIL3) was up 2.77% or 0.52 points to 19.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azzas 2154 SA (BVMF:AZZA3), which lost 4.49% or 1.65 points to trade at 35.09 in late trade. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) declined 4.19% or 0.22 points to end at 5.03 and Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF:HAPV3) shed 3.32% or 0.09 points to 2.62.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 617 to 353 and 49 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.37% to 32.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 5.96 to $2,673.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.79% or 1.25 to hit $68.69 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.08% or 6.15 to trade at $301.65 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.04% to 6.04, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.08% to 6.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 106.34.
