Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which rose 5.56% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.380 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 4.89% or 0.75 points to end at 16.10 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) was up 4.84% or 0.61 points to 13.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which lost 5.96% or 0.770 points to trade at 12.160 in late trade. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 4.83% or 0.91 points to end at 17.92 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) shed 2.31% or 0.03 points to 1.27.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 218 to 91 and 7 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.27% to 29.22.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.14% or 1.60 to $1173.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.21% or 0.12 to hit $59.58 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.11% or 1.50 to trade at $133.35 .
USD/BRL was up 0.00% to 3.1275, while EUR/BRL fell 0.40% to 3.4907.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.63.
