Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF:HAPV3), which rose 9.17% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.38 at the close. Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3) added 6.06% or 0.02 points to end at 0.35 and Atacadao SA (BVMF:CRFB3) was up 5.31% or 0.31 points to 6.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF:CMIN3), which lost 3.96% or 0.20 points to trade at 4.78 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (BVMF:RADL3) declined 2.56% or 0.56 points to end at 21.35 and Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) shed 2.33% or 0.10 points to 4.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 516 to 437 and 51 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.60% to 30.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.66% or 17.42 to $2,664.82 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.06% or 0.78 to hit $74.34 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.49% or 1.55 to trade at $320.15 .
USD/BRL was down 0.17% to 6.10, while EUR/BRL fell 0.68% to 6.31.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 108.50.
