Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3), which rose 6.17% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.72 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (BVMF:RENT3) added 5.48% or 2.17 points to end at 41.80 and JBS SA (BVMF:JBSS3) was up 4.27% or 1.26 points to 30.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Petroreconcavo SA (BVMF:RECV3), which lost 2.39% or 0.45 points to trade at 18.35 in late trade. Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) declined 2.08% or 0.27 points to end at 12.73 and Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3) shed 2.00% or 0.06 points to 2.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 478 to 441 and 61 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.91% to 27.19.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.47% or 34.80 to $2,334.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.82% or 0.67 to hit $80.62 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.39% or 5.50 to trade at $224.85 .
USD/BRL was down 0.30% to 5.43, while EUR/BRL fell 0.51% to 5.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 105.46.
