Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 4.44% or 0.39 points to trade at 9.17 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 3.56% or 0.51 points to end at 14.85 and Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) was up 3.45% or 3.47 points to 104.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which lost 6.04% or 0.30 points to trade at 4.67 in late trade. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) declined 4.44% or 0.60 points to end at 12.90 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 4.34% or 0.15 points to 3.31.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 171 to 154 and 4 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.15% to 39.42.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1117.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $42.90 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.54% or 0.75 to trade at $139.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.46% to 3.4641, while EUR/BRL fell 0.84% to 3.8228.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 96.99.
