Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.45% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3), which rose 2.79% or 1.10 points to trade at 40.46 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (BVMF:PETR4) added 2.47% or 0.90 points to end at 37.41 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF:YDUQ3) was up 2.32% or 0.24 points to 10.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which lost 11.45% or 0.91 points to trade at 7.04 in late trade. Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) declined 4.24% or 0.73 points to end at 16.49 and Dexco SA (BVMF:DXCO3) shed 4.22% or 0.34 points to 7.71.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 483 to 436 and 53 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 11.38% to 28.28.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.56% or 38.70 to $2,512.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.64% or 2.80 to hit $79.64 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 3.48% or 8.15 to trade at $242.20 .
USD/BRL was down 0.13% to 5.50, while EUR/BRL fell 0.80% to 6.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.99.
