Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which rose 2.32% or 2.50 points to trade at 110.30 at the close. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) added 0.67% or 0.56 points to end at 84.59 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.63% or 0.42 points to 66.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 6.32% or 1.46 points to trade at 21.64 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 3.34% or 1.31 points to end at 37.90 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 2.16% or 0.47 points to 21.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 47 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.10% or 27.50 to $1280.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.32% or 2.22 to hit $64.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.67% or 2.79 to trade at $73.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1609, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.78.
