Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS), which rose 0.25% or 0.18 points to trade at 72.61 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 0.22% or 0.40 points to end at 185.90 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) was up 0.09% or 0.05 points to 57.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE), which lost 3.20% or 0.62 points to trade at 18.75 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) declined 2.00% or 1.01 points to end at 49.57 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) shed 1.92% or 0.20 points to 9.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 26 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.57% or 15.34 to $2,654.66 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.14% or 1.51 to hit $69.20 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 1.09 to trade at $72.82 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 106.50.
