Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 0.88% or 0.12 points to trade at 14.31 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.45% or 0.26 points to end at 57.62 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.28% or 0.35 points to 123.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 2.47% or 1.58 points to trade at 62.34 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.35% or 0.940 points to end at 68.640 and Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) shed 1.16% or 1.15 points to 98.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 56 to 46 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 2.03 to $1293.03 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.00% or 0.48 to hit $48.31 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.57 to trade at $52.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1802, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.9226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 93.20.
