Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Healthcare and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BRU:UCB), which rose 4.22% or 2.81 points to trade at 69.44 at the close. DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) added 2.35% or 0.840 points to end at 36.610 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) was up 1.83% or 1.68 points to 93.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 2.86% or 0.26 points to trade at 8.86 in late trade. Elia (BRU:ELI) declined 1.43% or 0.560 points to end at 38.600 and NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) shed 0.48% or 0.12 points to 25.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 95 to 60 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 4.80 to $1135.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.05% or 1.84 to hit $43.57 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.46 to trade at $48.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1244, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 95.80.
