Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.96% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.21% or 1.90 points to trade at 61.05 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 2.03% or 0.52 points to end at 26.18 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.18% or 1.40 points to 119.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 0.69% or 0.26 points to trade at 37.16 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 0.28% or 0.08 points to end at 28.64 and Ageas (BR:AGES) gained 0.48% or 0.200 points to 41.500.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 25 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1322.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.97% or 0.60 to hit $61.41 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.40 to trade at $67.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2038, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8877.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 91.72.
