Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.43% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which rose 1.35% or 1.40 points to trade at 105.05 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.23% or 1.55 points to end at 127.55 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.12% or 0.69 points to 62.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 0.79% or 0.570 points to trade at 71.310 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 0.41% or 0.18 points to end at 43.91 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 0.31% or 0.050 points to 15.860.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 49 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 6.87 to $1270.83 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.42% or 0.23 to hit $54.38 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.30 to trade at $60.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1649, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8774.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 94.46.
