Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 2.31% or 0.48 points to trade at 21.29 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.56% or 0.20 points to end at 13.06 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.22% or 0.15 points to 12.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 2.37% or 1.05 points to trade at 43.32 in late trade. Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) declined 0.56% or 0.48 points to end at 85.24 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.53% or 0.09 points to 17.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 44 and 23 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1191.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.49 to hit $74.78 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.79 to trade at $84.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1479, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.8739.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.47.
