Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Banking and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which rose 1.64% or 2.65 points to trade at 164.25 at the close. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) added 1.55% or 0.86 points to end at 56.52 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) was up 1.21% or 0.75 points to 62.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which lost 1.69% or 0.18 points to trade at 10.48 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.67% or 0.44 points to end at 25.86 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) shed 1.60% or 1.25 points to 76.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 51 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 2.45 to $2,525.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.87% or 0.61 to hit $69.73 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.54 to trade at $73.21 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 101.32.
