Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 12.77% or 0.48 points to trade at 4.24 at the close. Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 7.69% or 0.48 points to end at 6.72 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 7.62% or 0.33 points to 4.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which lost 9.57% or 4.24 points to trade at 40.06 in late trade. Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) declined 5.09% or 0.23 points to end at 4.29 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) shed 5.01% or 0.42 points to 7.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 145 on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.47% to 53.91.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.70% or 7.70 to $1109.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.49% or 1.54 to hit $45.69 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 3.69% or 4.47 to trade at $116.70 .
USD/BRL was up 2.03% to 3.8559, while EUR/BRL rose 2.69% to 4.3475.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.53.
