Investing.com – Australia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Syrah Resources Ltd (AX:SYR), which rose 10.08% or 0.370 points to trade at 4.040 at the close. BT Investment Management Ltd (AX:BTT) added 3.64% or 0.380 points to end at 10.810 and Asaleo Care (AX:AHY) was up 3.29% or 0.050 points to 1.570 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iress Ltd (AX:IRE), which lost 4.95% or 0.570 points to trade at 10.950 in late trade. ANZ Banking Group (AX:ANZ) declined 2.84% or 0.860 points to end at 29.470 and Infigen Energy (AX:IFN) shed 2.82% or 0.020 points to 0.690.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 664 to 596 and 348 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.89% to 12.313.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 2.44 to $1276.64 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $56.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $63.57 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 0.7661, while AUD/JPY rose 0.09% to 87.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.42.
