Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bravura Solutions Ltd (AX:BVS), which rose 8.15% or 0.470 points to trade at 6.240 at the close. Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (AX:APT) added 6.68% or 1.710 points to end at 27.300 and Nine Entertainment Co Holdings Ltd (AX:NEC) was up 6.00% or 0.10 points to 1.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Super Retail Group Ltd (AX:SUL), which lost 8.78% or 0.760 points to trade at 7.900 in late trade. Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd (AX:SKC) declined 4.69% or 0.180 points to end at 3.660 and Bank Of Queensland Ltd. (AX:BOQ) shed 4.10% or 0.380 points to 8.890.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 616 to 577 and 386 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 5.71% to 11.610.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.39% or 5.05 to $1280.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.11% or 0.71 to hit $63.20 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.59 to trade at $71.47 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.04% to 0.7050, while AUD/JPY rose 0.13% to 78.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.260.
