On Monday, October 30th, U.S. stock markets closed significantly higher, rebounding from the previous week.

Investors await economic data releases, and the Federal Reserve’s two-day monetary policy meeting.

All 11 S&P 500 sectors ended in the green, with the communication services sector leading the way with the most significant percentage gain.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.58% to 32,928.96, the S&P 500 was up 1.20% to 4,166.82, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.16% and ended the session at 12,789.48.

Asian Markets Today

  • Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.60% higher at 30,858.85 on Tuesday, led by gains in the Gas & Water, Electrical/Machinery and Marine Transport sectors.
  • The Bank of Japan maintained its negative interest rates at -0.10% and announced minor adjustments to its yield curve control policy.
  • Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.12%, closing the session at 6,780.70, led by gains in the A-REITs, Consumer Staples and Financials sectors.
  • China’s Shanghai Composite declined 0.09% to close the session at 3,018.77, while the Shenzhen CSI 300 slid 0.31%, closing at 3,572.51.
  • In October, China’s manufacturing unexpectedly contracted, and non-manufacturing growth slowed significantly, with the China Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) for the month at 49.5, falling short of the estimated 50.2 and the previous month’s 50.2; Non-Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index came in at 50.6, falling short of the estimated 51.8 and the previous month’s 51.7.
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was down 1.79% and closed at 17,410.00.
Eurozone at 06:15 AM ET

  • The European STOXX 600 index was up 0.71%.
  • Germany’s DAX rose 0.56%.
  • France’s CAC gained 0.88%.
  • The U.K.’s FTSE 100 traded higher by 0.49%.
Commodities at 06:15 AM ET

  • Crude Oil WTI was trading higher by 1% at $83.12/bbl, and Brent was up by 0.95% at $87.19/bbl.
  • Natural Gas gained 1.82% to $3.412.
  • Gold was trading higher by 0.08% at $2,007.15, Silver declined 0.18% to $23.355, and Copper was up 0.02% to $3.6590.
US Futures at 06:15 AM ET

Dow futures were up 0.37%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.18%, while Nasdaq 100 Futures slid 0.02%.

Forex at 06:15 AM ET

The U.S. Dollar Index declined 0.07% to 106.04. USD/JPY was up 1.07% to 150.66, and AUD/USD gained 0.11% to 1.5705.
