Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Chemicals and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.41%, while the MDAX index fell 0.02%, and the TecDAX index added 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.04% or 0.410 points to trade at 13.875 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 1.72% or 0.162 points to end at 9.587 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 1.49% or 1.220 points to 82.890 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 1.57% or 1.950 points to trade at 122.650 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) declined 1.55% or 1.190 points to end at 75.470 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) shed 1.39% or 2.450 points to 174.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 3.26% to 38.765, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was up 2.44% to settle at 72.340 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 1.76% to close at 14.155.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 4.07% to 18.880 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which lost 3.56% to settle at 59.850 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 3.44% to 64.750 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 6.86% to 253.000, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 4.42% to settle at 42.200 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 4.42% to close at 47.000.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 3.56% to 8.381 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.87% to settle at 29.165 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.60% to 83.150 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 373 to 318 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.70% to 25.83.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.95% or 10.60 to $1127.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 5.56% or 1.87 to hit $31.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.36% or 1.57 to trade at $34.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.0898, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.7582.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 99.09.
