Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Retail, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.25% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 0.12%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.46% or 0.385 points to trade at 16.010 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.18% or 0.225 points to end at 10.555 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.24% or 0.215 points to 17.570 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which lost 2.77% or 2.250 points to trade at 78.940 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 2.65% or 1.660 points to end at 60.920 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 1.38% or 1.90 points to 135.85.
The top performers on the MDAX were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which rose 2.13% to 65.310, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 1.73% to settle at 53.510 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 1.56% to close at 71.500.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 3.23% to 9.301 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 1.62% to settle at 36.99 and Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which was down 1.44% to 513.30 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 3.52% to 14.422, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was up 2.88% to settle at 15.725 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 2.06% to close at 38.840.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 5.02% to 83.500 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 2.84% to settle at 63.600 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 2.48% to 6.376 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 446 to 317 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.23% to 15.00.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1255.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.16% or 0.53 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.51 to trade at $48.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1632, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 93.90.
