Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.15%, while the MDAX index lost 0.91%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 5.58% or 0.745 points to trade at 14.105 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) added 4.93% or 3.58 points to end at 76.16 and Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) was up 4.59% or 4.800 points to 109.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 6.09% or 1.96 points to trade at 30.21 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 5.90% or 0.795 points to end at 12.680 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) shed 5.73% or 8.000 points to 131.700.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which rose 4.88% to 105.350, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 4.12% to settle at 34.140 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 4.01% to close at 71.250.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 10.39% to 35.570 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 7.01% to settle at 34.87 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 6.54% to 54.750 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which rose 9.30% to 19.560, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 5.28% to settle at 33.900 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 4.87% to close at 22.950.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 8.41% to 18.675 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 6.48% to settle at 38.230 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 4.66% to 31.430 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 459 to 449 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.24% to 20.11.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.79% or 10.05 to $1263.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.35% or 0.61 to hit $44.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.55 to trade at $45.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0879, while EUR/GBP fell 1.22% to 0.8687.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 98.87.
