Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.74%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.08%, and the TecDAX index added 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 3.88% or 5.550 points to trade at 148.550 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 2.79% or 0.405 points to end at 14.935 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 2.21% or 0.820 points to 37.945 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 0.55% or 0.19 points to trade at 34.30 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 0.40% or 0.060 points to end at 14.870 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 0.33% or 0.021 points to 6.275.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 3.94% to 5.25, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was up 3.71% to settle at 55.350 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 3.21% to close at 16.570.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 0.83% to 85.570 in late trade, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which lost 0.68% to settle at 12.350 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 0.64% to 48.630 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 5.56% to 8.909, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 3.46% to settle at 26.785 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 3.16% to close at 34.390.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 1.84% to 24.000 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 1.80% to settle at 50.230 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 1.61% to 10.990 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 635 to 228 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.55% to 18.70.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.39% or 5.20 to $1325.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.04% or 0.91 to hit $45.58 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.34% or 1.09 to trade at $47.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1202, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8611.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 95.50.
