Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.39% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which rose 1.32% or 1.28 points to trade at 97.90 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 1.03% or 0.51 points to end at 49.40 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.99% or 0.96 points to 98.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH), which lost 2.25% or 3.40 points to trade at 147.40 in late trade. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 1.56% or 1.12 points to end at 70.90 and Airbus Group (PA:AIR) shed 1.41% or 0.76 points to 53.06.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which rose 1.76% to 11.000, Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) which was up 1.32% to settle at 97.90 and SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which gained 1.17% to close at 121.10.
The worst performers were Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) which was down 8.80% to 353.00 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 4.14% to settle at 4.835 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) which was down 2.25% to 147.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 378 to 298 and 93 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.21% to 20.73.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.75 to $1326.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.38% or 1.07 to hit $43.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.14% or 1.01 to trade at $46.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1263, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.8532.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 95.27.
