Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.71% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK), which rose 5.97% or 16.15 points to trade at 286.70 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) added 4.32% or 37.80 points to end at 913.00 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) was up 4.05% or 60.35 points to 1551.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coal India Limited (NS:COAL), which lost 6.66% or 21.05 points to trade at 295.25 in late trade. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) declined 2.11% or 480.05 points to end at 22281.10 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) shed 1.39% or 1.45 points to 102.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which rose 5.99% to 286.75, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 4.54% to settle at 913.80 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 4.40% to close at 1557.55.
The worst performers were Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 6.63% to 295.55 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 0.95% to settle at 361.35 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.88% to 511.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 972 to 534 and 74 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1660 rose and 1114 declined, while 178 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 11.16% to 12.4000 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1203.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.68% or 0.33 to hit $48.73 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.41 to trade at $51.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.22% to 66.030, while EUR/INR fell 0.27% to 70.3176.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 101.44.
