Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Real Estate & Construction and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Banking, Transport and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.24%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 14.94% or 0.091 points to trade at 0.700 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 4.23% or 0.026 points to end at 0.640 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was up 1.79% or 0.030 points to 1.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which lost 6.85% or 5.00 points to trade at 68.00 in late trade. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 5.77% or 0.120 points to end at 1.960 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) shed 1.85% or 0.020 points to 1.060.
The top performers on the ADX General were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which rose 4.55% to 1.61, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was up 4.17% to settle at 1.250 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which gained 2.50% to close at 0.820.
The worst performers were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 9.68% to 0.8400 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 2.96% to settle at 2.620 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 1.67% to 0.590 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 17 to 13 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 fell and 9 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.32% or 0.65 to $49.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.56% or 0.78 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.62% or 7.85 to trade at $1262.15 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.73% to 4.1813.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.60% at 93.25.
